PSG extend Ligue 1 lead with 3-1 victory over Marseille

PARIS: Paris Saint-Germain moved one step closer to securing the Ligue 1 title with a commanding 3-1 win over second-placed Olympique de Marseille on Sunday. The victory at Parc des Princes extended their lead at the top of the table to 19 points, leaving them on course to retain their crown.
Ousmane Dembélé opened the scoring in the 17th minute, latching onto a through ball before calmly finishing past the goalkeeper. Just before halftime, Nuno Mendes doubled PSG’s advantage with a close-range strike.
Marseille responded early in the second half, as Adrien Rabiot capitalized on a defensive mistake and set up Amine Gouiri, who slotted home to make it 2-1. However, any hopes of a comeback were dashed in the 76th minute when defender Pol Lirola turned Achraf Hakimi’s cross into his own net, sealing PSG’s victory.
Unbeaten in the league, PSG now have 68 points from 26 matches, with only eight rounds remaining. With such a dominant lead, another Ligue 1 triumph appears inevitable.
