PSG edge Bayern in dramatic Club World Cup clash marred by Musiala injury

Paris Saint-Germain advanced to the Club World Cup semi-finals after a gripping 2-0 victory over Bayern Munich on Saturday in Atlanta, despite finishing with nine men.

Second-half goals from Desire Doue and Ousmane Dembele secured the win for the European champions, who lost Willian Pacho and Lucas Hernandez to late red cards.

Bayern suffered a major setback before half-time when Jamal Musiala sustained a gruesome ankle injury following a collision with Gianluigi Donnarumma. The German champions also saw two goals disallowed for offside, including a Harry Kane header.

“It could have been 2-0 to us, but it didn’t go our way,” Bayern coach Vincent Kompany said.

PSG’s breakthrough came after Kane’s error led to Doue drilling in at the near post. Dembele later hit the crossbar before sealing the result with a stoppage-time finish, marking his celebration in tribute to Liverpool’s Diogo Jota, who died this week in a car accident.

PSG will face either Real Madrid or Borussia Dortmund in Wednesday’s semi-final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
