PSG concludes Ligue 1 campaign with victory over Metz

METZ, France: Paris St. Germain (PSG) wrapped up their Ligue 1 season with a 2-0 win against Metz on Sunday, solidifying their dominance in French football. The victory saw the capital club finish the season with 76 points, a comfortable nine points clear of second-placed AS Monaco.
PSG, resting key players like Kylian Mbappe ahead of their French Cup final clash with Olympique Lyonnais, got off to a flying start. Carlos Soler opened the scoring with a stunning strike from outside the box in the seventh minute. Just five minutes later, Lee Kang-in doubled PSG’s lead, cementing their control over the game. Despite Metz creating several late chances, they couldn’t find the back of the net.
Meanwhile, Brest secured the coveted third Champions League spot with a resounding 3-0 victory, while Lille had to settle for fourth after being held to a 2-2 draw by Nice, who managed a stoppage-time equalizer.
In the relegation battle, Metz narrowly avoided the drop, finishing 16th and heading into the relegation playoff. Lorient, however, were not as fortunate, joining bottom-placed Clermont Foot in relegation to Ligue 2.
PSG now turns its attention to the French Cup final, aiming to complete their domestic campaign on a high note.
