PSG clinch French Cup with 3-0 rout over Reims, seal domestic treble

PARIS: Paris Saint-Germain capped off a dominant domestic campaign by easing past Stade de Reims 3-0 in the Coupe de France final on Saturday, clinching their third trophy of the season for a second straight year.
Luis Enrique’s side, already winners of Ligue 1 and the French Super Cup, made light work of struggling Reims at the Stade de France, scoring all three goals in the first half to secure a record 16th French Cup title.
The holders were in control from the outset, with Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov getting the nod over Gianluigi Donnarumma in a near full-strength lineup. A late change saw Khvicha Kvaratskhelia replaced by Desire Doue, who went on to play a pivotal role.
Doue assisted both of Bradley Barcola’s quickfire goals in the 16th and 19th minutes — first sending the winger free to fire in a low strike from the edge of the box, then teeing him up with a low cross after a defence-splitting pass from Marquinhos.
PSG’s slick movement and relentless pressing left Reims with little room to respond, as the capital club cruised to yet another piece of silverware — and laid down a statement ahead of next week’s Champions League final.
