PSG advances to French Cup quarter-final with win over Le Mans

LE MANS, France: Paris St Germain secured their place in the French Cup quarter-finals with a 2-0 victory over third-tier Le Mans on Tuesday. Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola found the net in each half to ensure the win for the Ligue 1 leaders.

“It was a typical Coupe de France match. Dangerous, unpredictable. There are a lot of things you can’t control. But I think we did a good job,” PSG coach Luis Enrique said after the match.

Le Mans nearly stunned the visitors early on, with Theo Eyoum’s effort narrowly missing the target. The hosts’ defensive setup frustrated PSG for the opening 17 minutes until a mistake by Alexandre Lauray led to a turnover. Goncalo Ramos intercepted Lauray’s pass, setting up Doue to slot home the opener in the 25th minute.

Bradley Barcola sealed the victory in the second half, continuing PSG’s unbeaten run in all competitions since November.

In other matches, second-tier Dunkerque upset top-flight Lille by winning on penalties after a 1-1 draw, while Brest edged past Troyes 2-1 to advance.
