Musiala rescues Bayern in dramatic 4-2 win over Heidenheim

Jamal Musiala came off the bench to rescue Bayern Munich on Saturday, scoring twice in a tense 4-2 victory over struggling Heidenheim at the Allianz Arena. The result sent Bayern six points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.

Missing star striker Harry Kane, Bayern struggled to convert their dominance into goals early on. Dayot Upamecano headed home from a corner in the 18th minute to give the hosts the lead, but the French defender turned villain early in the second half with a misplaced pass that allowed Mathias Honsak to equalize for Heidenheim.

Under pressure after a midweek German Cup exit, Bayern manager Vincent Kompany introduced Musiala, and the 21-year-old made an instant impact, rifling a shot into the net just five minutes after coming on. Leon Goretzka added a third late on, but Heidenheim refused to go quietly, with Niklas Dorsch pulling one back to set up a nervy finale.

Musiala had the final word, embarking on a dazzling solo run from midfield before scoring his second goal to seal the win. “What he’s doing, we expect that from him now,” veteran Thomas Müller told Sky Germany. “We’re happy we’ve got him.”

Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund’s away struggles continued with a 1-1 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Jamie Bynoe-Gittens scored a sensational solo goal, but a controversial penalty converted by Kevin Stoeger denied Dortmund their first away win of the season.

Bayer Leverkusen maintained their strong form, defeating St. Pauli 2-1, while RB Leipzig returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory at Holstein Kiel. Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt dropped points in a 2-2 home draw with Augsburg, and Werder Bremen edged Bochum 1-0, deepening their hosts’ relegation woes.
