Mbappe sidelined with thigh injury after Champions League win
Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has been diagnosed with a thigh injury sustained during Tuesday’s Champions League victory against Atalanta, the club confirmed on Thursday. Details regarding his recovery timeline remain undisclosed.
“Following tests carried out on Kylian Mbappe today by the Real Madrid medical department, the player has been diagnosed with a thigh injury in his left leg. His progress will be monitored,” read a statement from the Spanish club.
The 25-year-old opened the scoring in the 10th minute of Real Madrid’s 3-2 win in Bergamo but was substituted after 36 minutes, replaced by Rodrygo.
“Mbappe has some discomfort in his hamstrings. It doesn’t seem serious but we’ll see tomorrow,” coach Carlo Ancelotti said after the match. “He couldn’t sprint, it hurt him a bit, and we thought it best to replace him.”
Before his injury, Mbappe delivered a standout performance, creating three clear scoring chances and netting his 50th career Champions League goal—his 12th since joining Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain last summer.
Real Madrid face a packed schedule with a La Liga clash against Rayo Vallecano on Saturday, the FIFA Intercontinental Cup final on December 18, and another Liga fixture against Sevilla four days later.
