Marseille secure Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on loan from Tottenham Hotspur

French Ligue 1 club Marseille announced the signing of Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on loan from Tottenham Hotspur on Monday.

“Olympique de Marseille are delighted to announce the signing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg from Tottenham Hotspur FC. The 28-year-old midfielder has joined the club on loan with an option to buy after passing his medical,” the club said in a statement.

Denmark international Hojbjerg, who has 81 caps, played in all four of his country’s matches at Euro 2024, where they were eliminated in the last-16 stage by hosts Germany.

Hojbjerg began his professional career at Bayern Munich before moving to Southampton in 2016. He joined Tottenham in August 2020, making 184 appearances for the club.

Marseille did not disclose financial details, but reports suggest a compulsory purchase option of around 13 million euros ($14 million). Hojbjerg joins new recruits Ismael Kone, Lilian Brassier, Mason Greenwood, and coach Roberto De Zerbi at Stade Velodrome.
