Lewandowski’s strike secures narrow Barcelona win over Getafe
BARCELONA: A first-half goal by Robert Lewandowski earned a depleted Barcelona side a 1-0 victory against Getafe on Wednesday, keeping their 100% record intact after seven LaLiga games. The Polish striker capitalized on a mistake by Getafe goalkeeper David Soria in the 19th minute to net his seventh goal of the season.
Despite missing several key players including Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Gavi, and Frenkie de Jong, Barcelona dominated the match, controlling nearly 80% possession and creating 16 goal attempts. However, poor finishing prevented them from securing a more comfortable win.
Soria, despite his earlier error, made several saves, frustrating efforts from Lamine Yamal, Lewandowski, and Raphinha. Raphinha, in particular, squandered a golden chance in the 82nd minute, misfiring a header from a Jules Kounde cross.
Barcelona’s win highlights their strength in depth, but also emphasizes the need for better finishing as they aim to maintain their perfect start to the season.
