Lewandowski’s first-half hat-trick leads Barcelona to victory over Alaves

VITORIA-GASTEIZ, Spain: Robert Lewandowski’s first-half hat-trick propelled LaLiga leaders Barcelona to a 3-0 win against Deportivo Alaves on Sunday, further cementing his dominance as the league’s top scorer. The Polish striker became the first player to reach 10 goals in LaLiga this season, and the second in Europe’s major leagues after Erling Haaland of Manchester City.

The victory pushed Barcelona to 24 points, three ahead of Real Madrid, while Alaves remained in 12th place with 10 points. Reflecting on his performance, Lewandowski said, “There were some good passes, and they made it easier for me to score. We played very well from the first minute, we wanted to attack and score goals.”

Despite losing Ferran Torres to injury early in the match, Barcelona dominated possession, with captain Raphinha seeing an early goal ruled out for offside. Lewandowski’s treble, all coming in the first half, put the game out of reach and allowed Barcelona to control the tempo in the second half.
