Lewandowski reaches milestone as Barcelona dominate Brest

BARCELONA, Spain: Robert Lewandowski reached an incredible milestone on Tuesday, scoring twice in Barcelona’s commanding 3-0 victory over French side Brest in the UEFA Champions League. The Polish striker’s first goal, a penalty in the 10th minute after being fouled by Brest goalkeeper Marco Bizot, marked his 100th goal in the competition. This achievement places him among the elite company of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the only players to surpass the century mark in Champions League history.

The victory was a timely response for Barcelona after two winless LaLiga outings. Despite missing injured teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, the Catalans delivered a dominant performance, registering 19 scoring attempts while keeping Brest from recording a single shot on target.

Lewandowski’s second goal and an additional strike from Ferran Torres sealed the result, lifting Barca to second place in the 36-team table with 12 points from five games. They trail leaders Inter Milan by a single point and are level with Liverpool, who face Real Madrid on Wednesday. Brest, meanwhile, slipped to ninth place with 10 points.(Reuters)
