
DOHA: The Qatar Football Association (QFA) has officially announced that the final of the 53rd Amir Cup will be played at the iconic Khalifa International Stadium on May 24. The announcement was made during a press conference held alongside the Round of 16 draw.
QFA’s Head of Competitions, Ali Hamoud al-Nuaimi, also confirmed that Al Thumama Stadium, Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium, and Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium will host matches during the tournament’s knockout stages. Al-Nuaimi stressed the QFA’s commitment to delivering a competitive and well-organised edition of the prestigious cup.
This year’s Round of 16 includes 12 teams from the Qatar Stars League and four from the Second Division. The tournament will continue in a single-match knockout format, with extra time and penalties used if needed. Fixtures include key matchups such as Al Sadd vs Al Kharaitiyat and Al Rayyan vs Lusail.
In terms of fan engagement, QFA’s Head of Media, Ali al-Salat, highlighted the ongoing promotional campaign, noting that attractive prizes will be available for fans during the matches.
Al Sadd’s Sporting Director Mohammed Gholam expressed his team’s ambition to complete a domestic double, reflecting the competitive spirit driving all clubs involved in the tournament.
