Juventus stages stunning comeback to draw 3-3 at Bologna

BOLOGNA, Italy : In a dramatic Serie A clash on Monday, Juventus staged an extraordinary comeback, scoring three goals in the final 14 minutes to secure a 3-3 draw against Bologna. This thrilling result leaves both teams level on 68 points, with Bologna in third and Juventus in fourth, heading into the final matchday. Atalanta, sitting fifth with 66 points and two games in hand, could yet influence the final standings.

Bologna appeared to have the game firmly in hand early on, racing to a two-goal lead within 11 minutes. Riccardo Calafiori opened the scoring just 90 seconds in, capitalizing on a rebound. Santiago Castro doubled the advantage shortly after with a powerful header. Bologna thought they had a third goal when Jens Odgaard found the net, but it was ruled out for offside.

The situation worsened for Juventus eight minutes into the second half as Calafiori netted his second, skillfully chipping the ball over Juve’s goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. At this point, Juventus seemed down and out, particularly after a chaotic week which saw them sack manager Massimiliano Allegri following their Italian Cup victory due to misconduct during the final. Paolo Montero was appointed as interim coach in the wake of this upheaval.

However, Juventus displayed remarkable resilience. Federico Chiesa ignited the comeback with a goal in the 76th minute, followed by Arkadiusz Milik’s stunning free-kick strike in the 83rd minute. Just a minute later, substitute Kenan Yildiz completed the comeback with a sensational long-range effort that nestled in the bottom corner, earning Juventus a vital point.

Despite both teams having already secured Champions League spots for next season, this match was crucial in the battle for third place behind AC Milan and champions Inter Milan.
