DOHA: Japan’s U23 football team clinched a decisive victory over Iraq in the AFC U23 Asian Cup Qatar 2024™ semi-final, securing not only their place in the tournament’s final but also booking a spot in the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.

In a match characterized by first-half goals, Mao Hosoya struck first for Japan in the 28th minute, setting the stage for a commanding performance. Ryotaro Araki added to the lead just 14 minutes later, cementing Japan’s dominance on the field. The team, under the guidance of coach Go Oiwa, demonstrated a cohesive and impressive display of skill, with captain Joel Fujita leading the charge.
