Inter fight back to beat Udinese and maintain perfect Serie A start

MILAN : Inter Milan recovered from two goals down to beat Udinese 5-3 on Monday and maintain their perfect start to the Serie A season alongside AS Roma.

Both teams have 12 points from four matches and share the top spot ahead of their meeting at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday.

Udinese took a 2-0 lead inside the opening 16 minutes. James Abankwah headed home unmarked in the ninth minute before Jurgen Ekkelenkamp scored from close range seven minutes later.

Inter reduced the deficit through Carlos Augusto, whose long-range effort found the bottom corner.

Nicolo Barella then equalised 10 minutes before halftime to bring Inter level at the break.

The champions completed the turnaround in the 59th minute when Marcus Thuram scored from inside the box after Andy Diouf’s cutback from the byline.

Francesco Esposito added Inter’s fourth before Ange-Yoan Bonny made it 5-2 with 11 minutes remaining.

Udinese scored again in stoppage time through Idrissa Gueye, but Inter held on for the three points.

The result kept Inter level with Roma at the top of Serie A, while Como are third on 10 points after a 2-1 victory over Parma.

Inter and Roma will meet on Saturday with both sides seeking to maintain their unbeaten records and sole possession of top spot.
