Injury woes pile up for Poland as Lewandowski hobbles off before Euros

Polish hopes for the Euros are under a cloud after star striker Robert Lewandowski limped off injured just 32 minutes into their final warm-up match against Turkey. This adds to Poland’s striker woes, as Arkadiusz Milik is already out with a knee injury.

Despite the early setback, Poland managed to scrape a 2-1 victory over Turkey. Karol Swiderski, Lewandowski’s strike partner, opened the scoring before departing with an ankle injury sustained during his celebration. Nicola Zalewski snatched a dramatic winner in stoppage time, but the win was overshadowed by the mounting injury concerns.

Lewandowski, Poland’s captain and all-time leading scorer with 82 goals, is 35 and aiming to participate in his fourth European Championship.

Meanwhile, Milik’s condition remains unclear, with his club Juventus only confirming surgery and rehabilitation without a recovery timeline.

Poland’s Euro campaign gets underway on June 16th against the Netherlands. They will then face Austria and France in Group D.
