I hope we will continue to win titles, says Al Duhail’s Ismail Mohamed
Doha, Qatar: Al Duhail winger Ismail Mohamed said the Red Knights were looking to regain the title right from the begining of the campaign.
Duhail stormed to the title in 2018-19 season, winning by a 11 point margin after a campaign during which they scored goals in plenty.
Though they were not as emphatic this season, they did just enough to finish ahead of Al Rayyan and Al Sadd.
“We had one goal from the beginning, which was to regain the league shield, which was very difficult,” said Mohamed after their 1-0 victory against Al Ahli in the final game of the season.
“Thank God for what has been achieved and I am happy with the team’s continued successes. I congratulate the Board of Directors, technical and administrative staff, players, all club members and fans. I hope we will continue to win championships and titles.”
Many members of the Al Duhail squad spoke after they were crowned the 2019-20 season QNB Stars League champions. The Red Knights regained the prestigious shield following their 1-0 victory over Al Ahli in the final week (22) at the Al Janoub Stadium on Friday.
Left back Sultan Al Breik said they deserved the title.
“I’m proud of my contribution as well as that of my colleagues towards winning the QNB Stars League shield during the 2019-20 season, which was a difficult mission. The team presented good levels and exhibited high competence to be the deserving winners,” said Al Breik.
