Guimaraes dedicates Newcastle’s 4-1 win Over Man United to ailing boss Howe

LONDON: Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes dedicated their emphatic 4-1 Premier League victory over Manchester United to manager Eddie Howe, who missed the match due to illness.
Howe, 47, was hospitalized on Friday after feeling unwell for several days and was absent from the touchline as Newcastle completed their first league double over United since the 1930-31 season.
“When we went to the pitch we said we will play for him,” Guimaraes told Premier League Productions. “He has been part of our success, he’s been unbelievable for us. We missed him on the training ground this week.”
Guimaraes added that the team hoped the performance brought Howe some happiness and expressed hope he would be back soon.
Assistant manager Jason Tindall, who led the team in Howe’s absence, said the boss had watched the match and congratulated the squad afterward. “I’m sure that performance will have put a smile on his face,” Tindall said.
Newcastle now prepare to host Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
