Giroud set for move to Los Angeles FC

Olivier Giroud, France’s all-time leading goal scorer, is poised to make a move to Major League Soccer outfit Los Angeles FC (LAFC) during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Sources close to the player have confirmed that Giroud has reached an agreement with LAFC, with the contract set to commence on August 1 for an 18-month deal. This transition comes as Giroud’s contract with AC Milan culminates at the end of the current season.

With this move, Giroud adds yet another chapter to his storied career, which has seen him ply his trade across Europe’s top leagues for over two decades. Beginning his journey at Grenoble, the French striker subsequently showcased his talent at clubs like Istres, Tours, and Montpellier, where he secured the Ligue 1 title in 2012.

Giroud then crossed the channel to England, where he donned the jerseys of Arsenal and Chelsea, enjoying considerable success and notably winning the UEFA Champions League with the latter in 2021. His move to Italy in 2021 brought further accolades as he clinched the Serie A title with AC Milan the following year.

With a record of 57 goals scored in 131 appearances for the French national team, Giroud has cemented his status as a footballing icon. His impending move to LAFC is set to reunite him with his compatriot and former national team captain, Hugo Lloris, who joined the club after retiring from international football following the 2022 World Cup.
