Gavi extends Barcelona contract until 2030 after injury comeback
Spanish international midfielder Pablo Paez Gavira, known as Gavi, has signed a contract extension with Barcelona until June 2030, the club announced on Friday.
“I’m very happy to continue with the club of my life and I hope that we will give you a lot of joy this season,” the 20-year-old said on social media.
Gavi, who made his senior debut in August 2021 at just 17, has become a key figure for both Barcelona and Spain. However, he suffered a serious knee injury in November 2023 while on international duty, forcing him to miss Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph.
“Barcelona and Gavi have reached an agreement regarding a new contract, and he is set to remain at the club until 30 June 2030,” the club confirmed. “His character, drive, technique, defensive awareness, and goalscoring ability make him a vital asset.”
The midfielder has scored nine goals for Barcelona but was sidelined for nearly a year before making his return in October 2024.
His renewal comes as Barcelona sit third in La Liga, seven points behind leaders Real Madrid, while also advancing to the Champions League knockout rounds.
