Qatar national team coach Luis Garcia stated that they will face a tough match against the Kuwait in their final group game of the 26th Gulf Cup, describing the opponent as a good team that has the support of its fans as the tournament’s hosts.
In the pre-match press conference, he added, “We are confident and have had the necessary recovery. We will play to win and qualify for the semi-finals.”
He continued, “There are significant absences in our squad, but we have a roster of 26 players, and we are working on finding suitable replacements. Everyone is enthusiastic about trying to achieve victory over Kuwait and qualifying for the semi-finals.”
He also stated, “It is very important to rely on young players in this tournament to prepare them for future challenges, as we are also working for the future of Qatari football. We have seen them work hard, and I am proud of them. We look forward to winning because it is important for us, for the national team, and for the country.”
Asked about Akram Afif, Garcia said: “Akram Afif remains a very important and outstanding player in the Qatari national team. He makes a difference in the matches, and it is difficult to find a replacement for him.”
Meanwhile, Qatari defender Tarek Salman said: “The match against Kuwait will be tough because they play with enthusiasm on their home ground and in front of their fans. However, we are also excited and will approach the game with great focus and give our all because we need to win to qualify for the semi-finals.”
He continued, “We are participating in the tournament with new young players and under the leadership of a new coach with a fresh tactical approach. Although our defense consisted of four players who have never played together before, they delivered good performances in the previous two matches.”
“We will try to continue in the same manner and provide a strong defensive performance tomorrow. As an experienced player, I aim to help them gain confidence and experience.”
