Foden shines in central role for Manchester City

BRIGHTON: In a resounding 4-0 victory against Brighton & Hove Albion, Phil Foden once again stole the spotlight, earning high praise from teammate Kevin De Bruyne for his prowess in a central position. De Bruyne’s observation underscores Foden’s versatility and effectiveness beyond his traditional wing role.

De Bruyne initiated the scoring in the 17th minute, but it was Foden who stole the show with a brace before halftime, showcasing his ability to impact the game from a more central position. Julian Alvarez sealed the deal with the fourth goal in the second half, solidifying Manchester City’s dominance.

With 24 goals across all competitions this season, Foden has proven himself as a potent force in City’s attack. Manager Pep Guardiola has recognized his potential, often deploying him centrally, particularly in the absence of top scorer Erling Haaland.

Foden himself acknowledges the benefits of playing in a central role, stating, “I’ve always said I see myself centrally. This year I’ve moved more inside and helped my game. It’s where I want to be to create and score.”
