Flick extends Barcelona contract after treble-winning debut season

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has signed a contract extension through June 2027, the Spanish champions confirmed on Wednesday.

The German tactician has enjoyed a dream debut campaign in Catalonia, guiding the club to a domestic treble — winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup — after replacing Xavi Hernandez last summer.

“Barcelona and Hansi Flick have reached an agreement for the renewal of his contract which will tie him to the club until 30 June 2027,” the club announced in a statement.

Flick, 59, originally joined on a deal until 2026 and has quickly revitalised the side. His Barcelona team, spearheaded by Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, and Robert Lewandowski, scored 99 goals in 37 league matches en route to the title. They also reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, falling to Inter Milan.

“The excitement that the German has brought to the club in his first year in charge has made Barcelona a feared opponent once again in Europe,” the club added.

Flick boasts a 73 percent win rate with 43 wins from 54 games — the best debut season since Luis Enrique’s 83 percent in 2014–15.
