FIFA confirms $125 million prize for Club World Cup winners

The winner of this year’s expanded Club World Cup in the United States could receive up to $125 million in prize money, FIFA announced on Wednesday.

A total prize pool of $1 billion had already been confirmed for the tournament, which runs from June 14 to July 13, but FIFA has now detailed how the funds will be distributed among the 32 participating teams.

Each team will receive a share of a $525 million participation pot, while a further $475 million will be distributed based on performance. The champion, after playing seven matches, could earn up to $125 million, including bonuses.

European clubs to receive highest payouts

European teams will take the largest share of the prize money, receiving between $12.81 million and $38.19 million each, with exact amounts determined by sporting and commercial criteria.

South American clubs will earn $15.21 million each, while teams from North and Central America, the Caribbean, Asia, and Africa will receive $9.55 million.

Oceania’s representative, Auckland City, will receive $3.58 million for participating.

FIFA highlights record-breaking prize fund

FIFA President Gianni Infantino hailed the prize distribution model as the “biggest prize money ever awarded to a competition comprising a group stage and a knockout phase.”

Alongside the prize money, FIFA will introduce a solidarity programme aimed at redistributing an additional $250 million to support football development worldwide.

Infantino reiterated that all proceeds from the tournament will be reinvested into club football.
