Enrique blames ‘Bad Luck’ as PSG fall to Atletico Madrid in Champions League setback
PARIS: Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique attributed his team’s 2-1 home defeat to Atletico Madrid to “bad luck,” as the French champions slipped into a precarious position in the Champions League group stage. Despite dominating possession, PSG’s attacking efforts fell short, leaving their qualification chances hanging in the balance.
Warren Zaire-Emery gave PSG an early lead, capitalizing on a defensive error from Atletico. However, Nahuel Molina quickly leveled the score, and Atletico’s defensive resilience eventually paid off when Angel Correa scored in injury time, sealing a late victory for the visitors. Enrique, clearly frustrated, described the outcome as a “bad joke” and summed up the day as “shitty.”
Although PSG had promising opportunities through Achraf Hakimi, Bradley Barcola, and Ousmane Dembele, they struggled to convert without a natural center-forward. This lack of a clinical edge continues to hamper PSG, leaving the team’s future in Europe uncertain.
