Burnley beat Sheffield United to seal Premier League return and send Leeds up

BURNLEY: Burnley clinched automatic promotion to the Premier League with a 2-1 win over Sheffield United at Turf Moor on Saturday, a result that also confirmed Leeds United’s return to the top flight.
Leeds had earlier thrashed Stoke City 6-0 to move top of the Championship on 94 points. They needed Burnley, sitting second, to avoid defeat to third-placed Sheffield United to guarantee a top-two finish—and the Clarets delivered.
Josh Brownhill was the hero for Burnley, scoring twice—once in each half—either side of a Tom Cannon equaliser for the visitors. The result extended Burnley’s unbeaten run in the league to 31 games and saw them join Leeds on 94 points with two games remaining.
Scott Parker’s men, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, are now poised for an immediate return, leaving Sheffield United on 86 points and heading for the playoffs.
“I’m speechless. All that hard work this season. We’ve been written off so many times, people calling us boring, but we’ve bored our way to the Premier League again,” said a jubilant Brownhill.
