Brentford outgun young Manchester United side in 4-3 thriller

LONDON: Brentford boosted their hopes of European qualification with a thrilling 4-3 victory over a youthful and experimental Manchester United side on Sunday in the Premier League.

United fielded their youngest-ever starting XI in Premier League history and took an early lead through Mason Mount. However, Brentford quickly turned the tide as a Luke Shaw own goal and a powerful Kevin Schade header gave the hosts a 2-1 advantage by halftime.

The Red Devils showed flashes of a comeback after the break, but Schade struck again with a near-identical header at the back post, followed by Yoane Wissa finishing off a swift team move to put Brentford 4-1 up.

Late strikes from Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo narrowed the gap to 4-3, but Brentford held on to claim all three points. The win lifts them to ninth place with 52 points, while United remain in 15th on 39 points.
