Borussia Dortmund signs Pascal Gross from Brighton on two-year deal

Borussia Dortmund have bolstered their midfield with the signing of Germany international Pascal Gross from Brighton and Hove Albion on a two-year deal. The 33-year-old midfielder, a lifelong Dortmund fan, joins the Bundesliga side for a reported fee of up to €10 million.

Gross has been a key figure for Brighton since joining from FC Ingolstadt in 2017, helping the Seagulls establish themselves as a Premier League force. In 228 appearances, he scored 30 goals and provided 45 assists, earning two Player of the Season awards. His impressive performances also earned him a call-up to the German national team at the age of 32.

Dortmund sporting director Lars Ricken believes Gross will bring valuable experience and versatility to the team. “Pascal is a top performer who will give us solidity and flexibility,” Ricken said.

Gross expressed his delight at returning to his boyhood club. “I can’t wait to play alongside my new teammates,” he said.

The move comes after a disappointing domestic campaign for Dortmund, who finished fifth in the Bundesliga and were eliminated from the German Cup in the last 16. Despite reaching the Champions League final, the club has undergone a squad overhaul, with the signings of Serhou Guirassy and Waldemar Anton already confirmed.
