Bologna makes history by reaching Coppa Italia semi-finals after 26 years

BERGAMO, Italy: Bologna achieved a historic milestone by securing a spot in the Coppa Italia semi-finals for the first time in 26 years with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Atalanta on Tuesday. Coach Vincenzo Italiano hailed the achievement as a defining moment for the club.

“We played for history and we succeeded,” Italiano said. “This is a beautiful moment, it always pushes you to give your best.”

Despite their struggles in the Champions League, where they managed only one win in eight matches, Bologna’s triumph over a top-three Serie A side offers renewed confidence. Italiano emphasized the significance of winning at Atalanta’s home ground in Bergamo.

“I think it gives you self-esteem and awareness. The Champions League gave us a big hand; this is a group that is constantly growing. It’s not easy to play in Bergamo,” he added.

Bologna will now aim to build on this success as they continue their quest for silverware in the Coppa Italia.
