Arteta signs new long-term deal with Arsenal
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has committed his future to the club by signing a new long-term contract, the Premier League title contenders announced on Thursday. The 42-year-old Spaniard, who reportedly agreed to a three-year deal, has been credited with restoring Arsenal’s status as a major force in English and European football.
“I feel extremely proud,” Arteta said after the deal was confirmed. “I feel extremely lucky to work every single day with good people and the ambition we have here. I feel very inspired, I feel challenged, I feel supported, and I want to do much more than what we’ve already done together.”
Arsenal co-chairman Josh Kroenke praised Arteta for his leadership and vision, saying, “Mikel is a dynamic and passionate manager, who is relentless in the pursuit of excellence. He has a deep understanding of Arsenal’s values, and since joining us as head coach, he has taken the team to another level in an Arsenal way.”
Arteta, who took over from Unai Emery in 2019, won the FA Cup in his first season. After narrowly missing out on the Premier League title in the last two seasons, Arsenal are currently fourth in the table and preparing for the Champions League.
