American group Beckett Layne Ventures seals takeover of relegated Monza

The Berlusconi family has agreed to sell AC Monza to American investment fund Beckett Layne Ventures after the club’s relegation from Serie A.

“Fininvest and Beckett Layne Ventures (BLV) announce that they have signed an agreement today for the sale of 100 percent of AC Monza’s share capital to BLV,” a joint statement confirmed Tuesday.

The deal foresees 80% of shares transferring this summer and the remaining 20% by June 2026. Italian media report the transaction is valued at €45 million, including €15 million to cover debts.

The late former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, who bought Monza in 2018 after transforming AC Milan into a European giant, oversaw the club’s historic promotion in 2022. But Monza were relegated in May after finishing with just 18 points.

Beckett Layne Ventures, led by former Chelsea marketing chief Brandon Berger, adds Monza to a growing roster of Italian clubs under US ownership, now numbering eight in the top flight last season.
