Al Sadd seal 18th league title with emphatic 5-0 win over Al Ahli

Al Sadd clinched their 18th Qatar Stars League title—and second in a row—with a commanding 5-0 victory over Al Ahli on Friday in the final matchday of the 2024-25 Ooredoo Stars League season at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium.

Led by captain Akram Afif, who opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 13th minute, The Wolves delivered a dominant performance to secure the coveted Falcon Shield, finishing the season with 52 points—two ahead of nearest rivals Al Duhail, who edged Al Khor 1-0.

His Excellency Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain, President of the Qatar Football Association and QSL, and Mr. Hani Taleb Ballan, CEO of QSL, crowned the champions in the presence of senior Al Sadd and Ooredoo officials.

Moustafa Tarek doubled the lead in the 44th minute, pouncing on a spilled effort by Al Ahli goalkeeper Marwan Sherif after a long-range strike from Claudinho. Two minutes later, Paulo Otavio made it 3-0 by turning in a brilliant Afif cross.

Al Sadd continued their dominance in the second half, with Afif turning provider once again in the 67th minute for Rafa Mujica, before Claudinho completed the rout with a thumping volley in the 81st.

Afif and Mujica each finished with 18 league goals, while Al Rayyan’s Roger Guedes claimed the Golden Boot with 19. Baghdad Bounedjah of Al Shamal also tallied 18 goals.
