DOHA: Al Gharafa SC, the current leaders of the QNB Stars League, announced that Spanish forward Joselu will be sidelined for at least six weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury.
The club confirmed on its official website that medical tests revealed the 34-year-old striker will need between six to eight weeks of recovery. Joselu was forced off during Al Gharafa’s 2-1 victory over Qatar SC on Friday in the postponed seventh-round fixture, exiting the match in the 66th minute.
Despite his absence, Al Gharafa maintained their top spot in the standings, extending their lead to four points over second-placed Al Shamal.
Joselu, who joined the club from Real Madrid in the summer of 2024, has been instrumental for the Qatari side, netting 25 goals and providing three assists in 47 appearances across all competitions. He also played a key role in Al Gharafa’s 2025 Amir Cup triumph, where they defeated Al Rayyan 2-1 in the final.
