PSG gets Aspetar’s dental emergency kit
DOHA: Aspetar’s Dental Emergency kit attracts the attention of the world’s top sports clubs. The French club Paris Saint-Germain is the latest who has benefited from Aspetar cutting edge product.
To be more familiar with the kit, a two-day workshop was conducted between September 2 and 3 in Paris. The event was supervised by Aspetar's team of sports dental experts and attended by doctors and nurses of the French club who learnt in detail how to use each item in the kit.
Each element was carefully selected to address the many problems related to oral injuries as well as other oral health issues that can occur at any time, such as tooth pain sensitivity or tooth evulsion due to trauma.
"We are happy with the great attention received for Aspetar dental kit by many international clubs,and we are here today in Paris Saint-Germain to hold a workshop for the kit in order to train the medical staff of the club on how to deal with the mouth and teeth injuries in the field and we guide them through that," said Aspetar’s Dr. Mohammad Al Saey, Consultant in Oral Surgery and Director of Sports Dentistry.
The kit aims to provide optimal first aid to athletes during sports tournaments or training camps, especially in cases where there is no dentist. A team doctor or medical specialist would be able to use the kit to treat emergencies until a Dentist can be seen.
Aspetar experts also covered a range of topics of how to deal with various oral and facial injuries during sports competitions by following certain protocols that will reduce the impact of these injuries for better outcomes.
Workshop introduced the importance of sports dentistry, the role of the team in dealing with oral injuries and how to move the injured patient safely from the field. How the types of oral injuries and dental problems may affect the performance of athletes, their career and methods of preventing such injuries.
"It was an interactive and productive workshop on both sides, many topics related to the use of the tools of the kit were discussed. I thank Aspetar team involved in organising the workshop as well as all the staff of PSG on this delightful organisation hoping that the scientific benefit will prevail for everyone," he added.
Aspetar is the first hospital in the Middle East to launch a first-aid dental kit, a unique initiative that enables competent pain relief and treatment of oral injuries for athletes on and off the field. The kit was carefully-designed to include several dental materials and tools needed to treat the most common oral injuries among athletes. It is particularly useful when athletes are far away from a hospital or a dental clinic where athletes are taking part in international training camps.
The kit was introduced through Aspetar’s Sports Dentistry department at a unique workshop organised for the sport clubs and federations doctors in Qatar. The kit also contains a step-by-step guide on how to use each tool, as well as an emergency on-call contact number at Aspetar’s Sports Dentistry Department for any oral emergency situations/or questions.
All Qatari club doctors and federations have been trained in advance to use this kit through workshops organised by the Sports Dentistry Department in Aspetar over the past two years, another workshop will be taking place on September 19 at Aspetar hospital.
