Pole vault star Lavillenie meets Barca’s Umtiti at Aspetar
Doha, Qatar: France's former Olympic pole vault champion and world-record holder Renaud Lavillenie met with his countrymate and Barcelona footballer Samuel Umtiti at Aspetar in Doha on Sunday.
World Cup winner Umtiti, a key player in Barcelona defence, is struggling with a recurring knee injury and is at the orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital in Doha to get it treated.
Aspetar plays an essential role in the development of sports in the State of Qatar. Shaped by its vision to be a global leader in sports medicine and exercise science by 2020, the pioneering Doha hospital has become a preferred destination for athletes to experience world-class medical service, including many of the best-known figures in football. Recent visitors to the clinic include Tottenham Hotspur’s Moussa Dembele, who concluded his rehabilitation at Aspetar and returned to team training in November.
