Bayern winger Gnabry suffers strain in training

DOHA: Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry must cut back on his workload a little after feeling a strain in his Achilles tendon during training on Sunday.

The 22-year-old will not be able to complete some of the squad sessions at the team's training camp in Doha.

"We had running practice this morning, and during that, that's when he had to stop," coach Hansi Flick told the media.

Since Saturday, Bayern have been based at the Aspire Academy in Doha, where they are preparing for the upcoming second half of the season, staying in Qatar until January 10.

Gnabry will now be treated onsite.

"We have to treat it very, very seriously and hope he comes back soon," he added.

For the tenth time in total, Bayern will prepare for part two of the Bundesliga campaign, laying the foundations for a successful second half of the season.

Bayern coach Hansi Flick has just six days to ensure his squad achieves the "optimal level of fitness required for three competitions.

"It'll be the first-ever trip to Doha for the 54-year-old, who promised "an intensive, tough training camp," said Flick.
