Aspire Zone Foundation to organise exclusive activities for ladies during Ramadan Sports Festival

Doha, Qatar: This Ramadan, Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) will offer women the exclusive opportunity to play sports in its world-class venues during the upcoming Ramadan Sports Festival.

During this year’s Ramadan Sports Festival (RSF2019), AZF jointly with Qatar Women’s Sport Committee (QWSC) will organise two competitions, one in basketball and one in handball. Each competition will see teams of six female players compete. A large number of sportswomen have already registered.

Commenting on the Ramadan Sports Festival, Lolwa Al- Marri, President at The Qatar Women’s Sport Committee, said: “We have been working closely with AZF in organizing sports events for a number of years. Building on the large turnout and the success of previous years, we will co-organise handball and basketball competitions exclusively for ladies to encourage them to take part in sports activities during the holy month of Ramadan.

Al-Marri added that the QWSC will be responsible for the technical aspects of the competitions that will take place in the Ladies Sports Hall at Aspire Zone, also organising Yoga sessions for both AZF and QWSC female employees.

Meanwhile, Alanoud Al Mesnad, member of the RSF2019 organizing committee, said: “AZF offers something for everyone in all its recreational sports and community events. We aim to target all members of the community so that they can enjoy bits of activities during Ramadan, and we always encourage women to come down to enjoy the competitions.”

Al Mesnad added that youngsters can also enjoy activities dedicated to their age groups, including fitness challenges, and wall climbing for both genders.

From football to basketball and handball, the RSF2019 will once again offer men and women opportunities to compete and enjoy themselves, while a wide range of youth events.

AZF will also organise table-tennis activities for people with disabilities in various categories, which witnesses a large turnout every year.
