Aspetar plans comprehensive healing programme for Mousa Dembele to recover from ankle injury

Doha, Qatar: A team of world-leading experts at Aspetar, the orthopaedic and sports medicine hospital, have embarked on an intensive treatment programme for Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele following a recent ankle injury.

The Belgian suffered the injury during the 3-2 win over Wolves earlier this month and scans later revealed that he had suffered ligament damage.

Dembele came to Qatar to work with some of the very best sports medicine practitioners and benefit from the leading sports medicine expertise, treatment and care that the hospital offers to elite athletes playing in top leagues all over the world.

Over the past few years, Aspetar has become the destination of choice for treating many of the best-known figures in the game including several Spurs players such as midfielder Harry Winks as well as winger Lucas Moura and defender Serge Aurier when they played for former Club Paris Saint-Germain. They join a long list of players from leading teams around the world who have also travelled to Aspetar.

Commenting on his visit, Dembele said: “The facilities and environment provided at Aspetar allow me to concentrate and focus on my rehabilitation so I can make a strong comeback.”

In parallel with Qatar’s emergence as a sports medicine hub, Aspetar has in recent years established a leading role in the treatment and prevention of injuries to local, regional and international athletes across all sports to deliver its mission and assist athletes to achieve their maximum performance and full potential.

Aspetar was officially accredited as an International Federation of Association Football™ (FIFA) Medical Centre of Excellence (F-MARC) by FIFA Chief Medical Officer in 2009. Aspetar is the region's first Sports Medicine Centre to receive such an honour and joins a prestigious list of 49 medical centres and clinics worldwide who have also been accredited to this high standard.
