DOHA: Reigning champion Hamad Nasser Al Qadi clinched the Big Tour showjumping (130/145cm) in the 12th round of Fourth Qatar Equestrian Tour-Longines Hathab at the Longines Arena, Al Shaqab, on Friday.
The tournament, which included 12 individual and team rounds, was launched in October, 2020, is Supported By The Social & Sport Fund (Daam).
Al Qadi clocked 64.87 seconds for his effort while Mohammed Saeed Haidan guided D SAUCEDO to second place (64.99sec).
Faleh Suwead Al Ajami finished third (67.95).
The category featured 12 riders with six completed their campaign without errors.
There’s one more round to go on Saturday that will decide the fate of Hamad, who is currently placed third (177 points) in the Big Tour rankings after 11 rounds behind Nasser Al Ghazali (196) and his brother Saeed
Hamad, who has won the overall title for the third season last year, won this year’s HH Amir Sword Equestrian Festival in showjumping category.
Cyrine Cherif rode Brenus Villelongue to victory in the Medium Tour (120/135cm) showjumping competition.
Rashid Towaim Al Marri came second followed by Jaber Rashid Al Amri in the category that featured 18 riders.
Khalifa Abdullah Al Khadi astride DUSTY took the honour (49.00 second) in the Small Tour (100/115cm) that was held in one round against the clock.
Alqaqa Adel Nasser came second (51.85 sec) followed by Mohammad Jabor Al Nuaimi (53.21).
A total of 45 riders participated in this round with 22 finished without making mistakes, which indicates the level of competition.
