Zeballos joins Wakrah ranks
Paraguayan international Pablo Zeballos last week joined Al Wakrah on a one-year deal from his native club Sportivo Luqueno.
The 30-year-old striker represented Paraguay at the 2011 Copa America, where they finished second behind Uruguay.
Zeballos is seen as an ideal replacement for Argentinian striker Sebastian Saez, who was released by the club at the end of last season.
It was Wakrah’s second overseas signing in the summer transfer window, after the recruitment of Uruguayan striker Pablo Olivera.
Iraqi Ali Rehema and Moroccan Mouhcine Moutouali are the other professional players in their line-up.
Wakrah, who finished 11th last season, open their Qatar Stars League campaign against El Jaish on September 18.
Meanwhile, Umm Salal also completed their overseas signings, with Brazilian midfielder Alef joining them from Portugal’s Braga last week.
