Selection joy for Afif brothers

Qatar’s talented young forward Akram Afif and his elder brother Ali have both made it to the national team squad, announced by new coach Jorge Fossati last Sunday.

It is for the first time that the siblings are featuring together in any side.

Akram has been a regular in the squad since the start of this year while Ali is making a return after a long gap.

Akram, currently playing on loan at Sporting Gijon from Spanish rivals Villarreal, and Lekhwiya’s Ali, interestingly, have to vie for the same slot of a left winger.

“Wonderful, with my brother in national team,” tweeted Akram.
