AL GHARAFA 2 AL WAKRAH 0
Star forwards Krisztian Nemeth (62nd) and Vladimir Weiss (stoppage time) both scored as Gharafa blanked Wakrah. Jose Mauricio’s men are still in search of a win and their fifth defeat has pushed them to the bottom of the table.
AL KHARAITIYAT 0 UMM SALAL 2
Ivorian Yannick Sagbo scored a brace (47th and injury time) as Umm Salal returned to winning ways with a victory over Kharaitiyat. Their fourth defeat has pushed the men in blue to 12th in the standings and cost coach Amar Osim his job.
AL ARABI 1 MUAITHER 2
Promoted side Muaither registered their second straight victory by shocking Al Arabi, who played under caretaker Kamal Akhlaf. Nigerian forward Imoh Ezekiel gave the Reds the lead as early as the second minute. However, their joy did not last long as Alain Dioko netted in the 18th. Muaither’s winner came deep in the injury time, through Hamad Mansour.
AL SHAHANIYA 0 AL SADD 4
Sadd drubbed promoted Shahaniya in a one-sided tie. Algerian striker Baghdad Bounedjah was the chief architect of the win as he netted in the sixth and 78th minute. Xavi Hernandez (36th) and Ali Asad (69th) were the other scorers.
AL SAILIYA 4 EL JAISH 6
Jaish put it past Sailiya in a high-scoring match. Sardor Rashidov (fifth and 77th) and Romarinho (22nd and 37th) netted a brace each while Abdulkader Ilyas (20th) and Seydou Keita (43rd) were the other scorers. For Sailiya, Paul Efoulou scored twice (11th and 63rd) while Mohammed Muthather (49th) and Abdulrauf Hussein (53rd) were also on target.
AL KHOR 2 LEKHWIYA 2
Khor proved that they are an improved side this time as they held favourites Lekhwiya at home. Khor’s Brazilian defender Welinton gifted Lekhwiya the lead in the 12th when he conceded an own goal. Sultan Mohammed then drew parity in the 36th, but in-form Ali Afif restored the Cops’ lead. Diminutive playmaker Madson once again turned Khor’s saviour as he netted in the 76th to ensure they returned with a draw.
AL RAYYAN 2 AL AHLI 1
Rodrigo Tabata regained his touch and netted twice as defending champions Rayyan scored a deserving victory over Ahli with all three goals coming from spot-kicks. Brazil-born Qatar international Tabata struck in the 45th and 52nd minutes while Meshaal Abdullah pulled one back in the 65th.
