Parisians rue lack of co-ordination

DEBUTANTS Paris Saint-Germain were one of the firm favourites considering their formidable line-up, but they could not stop Germany’s Fuchse Berlin from retaining the IHF Super Globe title last week.
PSG, who had seven medallists from the 2016 Olympic Games — Danish back players Mikkel Hansen and Henrik Mollgaard, who won gold in Rio, France’s silver medal winners Daniel Narcisse, Thierry Omeyer and Karabatic brothers Nikola and Luka, as well as bronze winner Germany’s Uwe Gensheimer — fought tooth and nail only to lose 28-29.
“We played well, but it just wasn’t enough. We’ve to do a lot of hard work for the new season, but we’re happy with the performance,” PSG coach Erlingur Richardsson told Doha Stadium Plus.
“It was hard luck. We couldn’t win. We came so close,” said captain Daniel Narcisse.
With the new signings playing their first official matches at the Doha event, PSG can only get better with time.
“They’re getting to know our style. Before coming here, we had just 10 days of training together. We need to work hard,” said Nikola Karabatic, who won two gold medals with France, at the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games. DSP
