Our athletes are improving: Al Jabir

QATAR Olympic Committee’s Sport Affairs Department Director Khaleel Al Jabir said the good display by host competitors at the Fifth GCC Women’s Games augured well for the country.
“For Qatar, the Games were a great success in every sense. We knew our strength in athletics, table tennis and shooting, but it showed the progress we’ve made in team events. We’re working towards performing at our optimum level at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia and the rich medal haul should boost the morale of all athletes,” Al Jabir told Doha Stadium Plus.
“Our women athletes are improving, but we shouldn’t put too much pressure on them because they need some more time. We also have high hopes about our taekwondo, judo and karate practitioners , and I strongly believe the GCC Games have proved that Qatar is a force to reckon with,” said Al Jabir.
The official said the federations were working with a single aim to raise the bar in time for the next Asian Games.
“We’re constantly in touch with various federations and we’re quite happy with the progress our women athletes are making. But we shouldn’t relax, but stay focused and continue to work hard,” said Al Jabir.
