Judges’ course under way in Doha

A TOTAL of 40 judges, from India, China, Egypt, Hungary, Jordan, North Korea, Singapore, Syria, Tunisia and hosts Qatar are taking part in the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) women’s artistic judges’ course which started in Doha last Sunday.

Qatari international judges Abeer Ali Al Buainain and Fatima Mohammed Al Mohannadi will renew their categories while Ghalia Al Habshi and Ahlam Al Habshi are the two new entrants in the five-day programme.

“We thank the FIG for giving us the chance to organise such an important course,” said Qatar Gymnastics Federation President Ali Ahmed Al Hitmi. “My best wishes to all judges.”

As Doha prepares to host the 2018 Artistic World Championships, such courses are significant because it gives the host country an opportunity to produce more international judges.

“For FIG, Doha is an important city in the region. We always feel happy to come back here,” said FIG Women’s Technical Committee President Donatella Sacchi. “It’ll be good for the sport in the region.”
