Jones, Matousova supreme

Andi Jones and Katerina Matousova emerged as winners in the men’s and women’s open category (18-39 years) respectively at the Sixth Aspire Torch Staircase Run last week.

Jones finished in 7:12sec and Matousova clocked 10:42.

Nearly 300 competitors from various communities vied for honours at the event, which involved the challenge of climbing 1,300 steps and reaching the 51st floor of the 300M tall Doha Torch Tower in the shortest time.

Andrew Buckley (male veteran, 9:31) Carmel Lord (female, 12:59), Oliver Guest (boys, 9:31, Hallie Harris (girls, 11:46) and Khagendra Bharati (waiter/waitress, 11: 9) were the other winners.
