‘Doha has become my second home’
WORLD No.1 squash player Mohamed El Shorbagy is popular in Qatar especially among the Egyptian expatriates.
Mohamed, whose younger brother Marwan has also come up the Professional Squash Association (PSA) ranks, is very serious on the court, but a colourful character off it.
What’s so special about Doha?
This is where I won my first PSA title and since then Doha has virtually become my second home.
How does family support help you?
The day I played the semifinal against Nick Matthew, it was my parents’ 27th wedding anniversary. I dedicated the win to them. My mother is very passionate about the sport and has played a big role in shaping my career. And it helps when you’ve your brother to share the playing space.
Your preferred cuisine…
I love sushi a lot. During match days, I prefer to have pasta with tomato sauce and a little bit of chicken. Omelette with tomato and brown bread with cereals and water melon are my breakfast.
