Bashar runner-up at Asian event

QATAR’S Bashar Hussein finished as runner-up in 9-Ball Pool at the inaugural Asian Billiard Sport Championship in Fujairah, the UAE, last week.

Bashar, Qatar’s No.1 pool player, lost to China’s Wu Jiaging 9-11 in a closely-contested final.

Bashar was in good form throughout the tournament.

He beat China’s Han Haoxiang in the semifinal after getting the better of compatriot Waleed Majed 9-8 in the last eight.

Ahmed Saif, Ali Al Obaidly and Abdulmohsen Khamis were the other Qatari competitors in the week-long tournament, which also featured pool, snooker and billiards.

The tournament was held under the aegis of Asian Confederation of Billiard Sports and its president Mubarak Hamad Al Khayareen, Executive Director of the Qatar Billiards and Snooker Federation, was impressed with Bashar’s performance.

“Bashar beat some of the best players en route to the final. I wish him good luck for future events,” said Al Khayareen.
