Adelebari determined to clear his name

QATARI sprinter Samuel Francis Adelebari, who has been sanctioned by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), said he was determined to fight his case and wanted to come clean.

In an exclusive interview with Doha Stadium Plus, the four-time Asian Indoor 60M champion said he would not allow anyone to ruin his name.

“I’ve worked hard to be where I’m at and I’m not going to fold my hands and let the greed of some coach who wants to have an Olympic-medal athlete in his name ruin my name,” said Adelebari.

“I’m still waiting for the response from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) since the case has been handed over to it by the IOC. Since the news broke out, it hasn’t been easy emotionally, but I’m still training despite all of it because that’s the one thing I know how to do and that’s the only way I can overcome this. I’m not going to give up.

“Apart from injuries and other setbacks, this has hit me really hard, but I won’t lay back and give up. I’ll keep training pending the decisions of WADA and also the Qatar Olympic Committee. There isn’t much more I’ve to say, but it was all the doings of my former coach Yanko Bratanov. He tricked me into taking stuffs like that and told me it was just a vitamin or supplement. I was very curious and cautious, and asked questions, but he fooled me and I feel for it,” he concluded. dsp
