Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation announces calendar of activities

The Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation (QCF) has announced its calendar of activities for the upcoming 2021-2022 season, with the two sports under the Federation’s purview witnessing a great growth in terms of number of participants and events.

The events start from mid-September and will go on until the end of March, with special events planned for the month of Ramadan at the end of the season. Participants will enjoy action-filled weekends, alongside night events throughout the week, organized by the QCF and local clubs, culminating in the National Championships and time trial races at the beginning of February, with both races having UCI recognition.

This season will also see the introduction of many new events. These include a range of events designed to increase the participation of women in cycling, such as the ‘Women on Wheels’ races which will attract the needs of women who are looking for a challenge or a competitive outlet in order to improve their fitness.

Meanwhile, those who love off-road and mountain bike racing will compete in five different races across Qatar, with The United Filipino Mountain Bikers Qatar set to organize several events with the support of the QCF. The main event of the mountain bike racing season in Qatar is the UCI-recognized Al Udeid Desert Challenge, organized by the Qatar Cyclists Centre. The Al Udeid Desert Challenge has evolved from a cycling event to a spectacular sports festival, one of the most awaited events of the year for cyclists, runners and multi-sports enthusiasts. The QCF will also host the Asian Triathlon Cup for the first time during this season.
